Alex is a passionate yacht charter broker, and both the TJB team and our clients thoroughly enjoy working with him. Alex grew up by the sea and has long had a passion for the yachting industry, spending two seasons working as a deckhand aboard superyachts. It is this hands-on sea time, where he gained a deeper understanding of the luxury yacht charter sector and what makes them so successful, that allows him to create the perfect charters for his clients.
Alex also brings six years of experience working in London’s prime real estate sector, and he has negotiated and transacted in excess of £50m worth of prime residential property. He has transferred this vast experience to the superyacht industry, and prides himself on his ability to build long-standing relationships by putting his clients’ best interests first and foremost.
We are a dynamic team at TJB Super Yachts and our approach is focused on a personalized, individual service as opposed to appealing to the masses. We pride ourselves on taking the time to understand a client’s unique desires, and ultimately delivering the best experience possible.
I like that every day is different. I get to meet new and interesting people, attend yacht shows, plan off the beaten track cruising itineraries and keep up with the latest yachts to enter the charter and sales markets. It is this variety that keeps me on my toes as no two days are alike.
I am very proud of successfully navigating the current challenges in the world and delivering a successful Caribbean charter for my client and his family earlier this year. It’s always a great feeling when you hear that they had the best trip of their life, and that the hard work paid off.
Having a fantastic crew onboard is one of the most important criteria to a perfect super yacht charter as their dedication and professionalism really make the difference. An itinerary/destination tailored to the client’s exact specifications is also vital. Everyone has different tastes and interests and there is no one-size-fits-all itinerary. Finally, a yacht offering modern luxurious comforts (and if you’re lucky, great weather) will create the perfect charter experience.
I’ve always loved the Balearic Islands of Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera. In fact, the crystal–clear blue waters of Formentera can easily be mistaken for the Caribbean and Bahamas. Between the four islands, there is always a quiet cove or anchorage to be found where you can escape the crowds.
Feadship pride themselves on creating custom superyachts and start with a completely blank page to design a bespoke yacht for each individual client. For me, this attention to detail and unique design approach is second to none. Not to mention that they’re built to the highest specifications and to combat all weather conditions. Many of the world’s most impressive superyachts have been designed and built by Feadship.
The ever-evolving beach club located at the stern would definitely be on my list. Beach clubs really add an extra dimension to social spaces onboard, with fold-out balconies, infinity pools, bars, lounge space and in some cases, wellness and spa facilities.
Try before you buy. I would advise any client to charter a superyacht at least once before making a purchase. In doing so it allows you to understand what you like and don’t like, and what features are most important to you before committing to purchasing a yacht.
This isn’t something that I ever tell anyone, but I’m a classically trained singer.
