Florida’s Broward Center for Performing Arts played host to this year’s glittering annual Design and Leadership Awards at the Florida International Boat Show. The awards ceremony was celebrating its impressive 29th event, where the industry’s most celebrated crew, leaders, innovators and business people are honoured for their contributions to the industry as voted for by their peers.
You’ve made that exciting decision to spend your precious holiday time chartering a superyacht. Whether you plan to indulge in some quiet time, take the whole family or party with a big group of friends, it’s time to get planning. And the sooner the better. While it might seem logical to assume that last minute bookings would offer the best value when it comes to superyacht charter, in fact the opposite is true. How far in advance you book doesn’t just affect the cost either, it can have a big impact on factors such as demand on berths affecting your cruising grounds. Booking your superyacht charter early makes far more sense. Here are 5 reasons why;
New Year is a time when we look back on the year behind us with reflection, and forward to the year ahead with new resolutions made. It is also the time for a great big celebration! Superyachts allow families and friends to ring in the New Year together, enjoying the best seats in the house for legendary fireworks displays, rip-roaring parties or intimate dinners. Here we take a look at the top 5 destinations for a New Year superyacht charter.
It’s the final date on the Formula One Grand Prix calendar, the race which brings to a close 2019’s season of drama, high energy, fierce battles and superb driving. And Abu Dhabi isn’t chosen as the final climax to this year’s legendary competition for nothing. For no other race can turn on the entertainment, the theatre or the suspense quite like this one.
Superyachts are going further than ever before, and sunny climes aren’t the only destinations. With the emergence of more and more long-range expedition superyachts hitting the seas, adventurous owners and charterers are discovering some of the world’s iciest realms, where great glaciers, turquoise icebergs and weird and wonderful wildlife await. The sun shone down on Port Hercules for 29th edition of the superyacht world’s largest and most prestigious show, an extravaganza which delivered everything it promised….and more. More than 120 superyachts crowded into Monaco, where some 600 exhibitors and thousands of attendees poured through the gates. The team at TJB Super Yachts were there in force, with an action-packed line-up of new yachts to visit and new clients to meet. Here we take a look back on the highlights of a hugely successful show.
It is perhaps unsurprising that superyacht owners, who appreciate the intricate beauty of these floating palaces, are also quite fond of priceless pieces of art. When it comes to buying and displaying art, discretion is key, so while we know that more and more pieces are being showcased aboard yachts, details are few and far between. The superyacht Aviva is believed to have Francis Bacon’s Triptych 1974–1977 adorning her interior, among several others. MY Revelry is known to be home to pieces by Alexander Calder, Ellsworth Kelly and Richard Diebenkorn, while Topaz has several hundred pieces collected by owner Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed al-Nahyan on board. With Topaz costing £350 million, it is likely that the artwork far exceeds the value of the yacht.
These days, superyachts are evolving faster than the times, their engineering at the forefront of innovation, and their designs setting trends. Blink and it’s all changed. And it seems the rollercoaster is only getting faster. Why, though, after so many years of classic, stately elegance are yachts suddenly making a U-turn in their design? The answer, it seems, all comes down to a change in owner demographics. With the rise of the tech industry, millionaires are getting younger, and the average age of a yacht owner is now around 40.

It is no nonchalantly chosen moniker that the Cannes Yachting Festival has been given. Make no mistake, the name was chosen with great precision and care to express, in just three words, the atmosphere, ethos and energy of one of the world’s largest boat shows. Because it isn’t just a show, or a luxurious exhibition space for yachts to show off their latest creations. It’s a grand celebration of the yachting lifestyle, of the luxury lifestyle, and of our love of the ocean.

It is the date on the calendar which no-one - industry professional or esteemed client - can afford to miss. But why is the Monaco Yacht Show such a profoundly important event? We take a look at how the MYS has become the heart of the superyacht industry.
