Reflecting on 2021 and Looking ahead to 2022

Stepping into January 2021, there was much uncertainty about what the year had in store for our industry. With the world amid a global pandemic, TJB Super Yachts and the yachting industry as a collective has flourished. As the end of 2021 approaches, it’s time to reflect on the incredible, yet turbulent year we have had. In the face of adversity, our company has moved into a new phase, with growth in team members, an expansion of global offices, a launch of a new website and a laser focus on sales.

A Successful 2021 – Booming Charters

What a year it has been! 2021 saw a surge of yacht charter enquiries, with the demand for privacy and safety when travelling. This year has been the strongest ever for TJB Super Yachts, with a total of 261 completed charters, with Greece, Italy, and the French Riviera as our top cruising destinations. From the Mediterranean to the Caribbean, our yacht brokers have serviced charters across the globe, providing bespoke itineraries, unique destination guides and 24/7 availability. Every TJB broker has nurtured their clientele with hard work and dedication at the heart of every booking. Our global team of yacht brokers, marketing and operations have worked tirelessly to create remarkable experiences, and the number of charters this year shows our success, with an ever-growing demand for next year.

Sales Market Insights

Our team has catered to a surge of first-time buyers. Here at TJB, we continue to aid the search for those who desire to own a superyacht. Global yacht sales have more than doubled over the past year, with over 900 yachts sold in the last 12 months, and we are seeing these numbers accelerate from the data provided by our intelligence systems. We’ve seen 399 yachts sold with a length of 24-30M, 290 yachts 30-40M and 126 yachts 40-50M. Learn more about the sales fast facts here.

Whether for personal use or as an investment, a superyacht purchase provides a myriad of opportunities. Identifying the ideal yacht for a client is what we do. Our sales brokers strive to draw awareness to all new yachts on the market, as well as build opportunities and any yacht deals across the globe. We are proudly building our portfolio, developing our relationships with shipyards and yacht designers to ensure that every sales requirement is met.

TJB Projects

Harnessing the best technology was a priority for 2021. We unveiled our rebranding at the start of 2021, followed by the launch of our new website in the summer. Our dynamic website, with enhanced search functionality, along with a refreshed modern look showcases all our services, including yachts for sale and charter, management, concierge services, luxury travel and more. In addition to providing a more engaging, intuitive user experience, we now offer a unique “create your bespoke itinerary” function to customise trips. The tailor-made builder is the first and only one in the yachting industry! There has been an overwhelming response from clients, and we look forward to seeing more itinerary creations next year and beyond.

This year, we saw an opportunity to evolve the tech capabilities of the company to the next level. We invested heavily in our backend systems – best CRM software, back-end tools, and digital platforms – so our brokers were even better equipped to provide a greater customer service providing a truly ultra-personalised service to so many individual clients.

THE RETURN OF Yacht Shows

From the French Riviera in September to the Caribbean in December, our team resumed international travel to the various yacht shows across the globe. After the start of the year in hiatus, we were delighted to attend Cannes Yachting Festival, Monaco Yacht Show and Antigua Charter Yacht Show.

It was a pleasure to once again step foot onto yachts, engage with peers in the industry and communicate with captains and crews onboard. Having just returned from Antigua our team can vouch for how important these industry events are and how grateful we are to see them back.

Looking Ahead – 2022

We look forward to a highly successful year ahead for our industry and TJB Super Yachts. The appetite for superyacht charters continues to grow, with 2022 set to be another exceptional year! We are already seeing this year’s new clients re-booking, eager to secure an escape in their most desired destinations. Summer 2022 has a high influx of bookings, with some exceptional itineraries in place.

With the ending of this year comes the beginning of our latest venture – TJB Private Travel. A subsidiary company to TJB Super Yachts that will provide even more for our clients. Our portfolio of luxury villas, chalets and private islands means that you will never be short of exceptional travel opportunities. Look out for announcements in 2022.
