My favourite part of being a sales and charter yacht broker is the yachts themselves. They are simply such outstandingly beautiful machines, and I believe they are one of life’s greatest pleasures and luxuries and true testament to maritime engineering. I get to spend all day talking about, reading about and researching the amazing superyachts cruising the oceans. In doing so I get to make peoples’ dreams a reality.
I started out knowing very little about the industry or the product, and through extremely hard work and lots of dedication am today very confident and experienced in organizing even the largest and most complex charters for my discerning clients. I pride myself in ensuring that they get the very best possible experience, from initial enquiry all the way through to disembarkation.
In my opinion, the three most important things are the food, the comfort of the yacht and the service. Having an incredible crew, including a chef who can cater to all your tastes and requirements, will make or break a charter. I always ensure that I pair my clients not only with the perfect yacht for them, including all the amenities they could need, but to ensure the crew are professional, attentive and dedicated to ensuring their guests have an unforgettable charter experience. Superyacht charters aren’t a one-size-fits-all cruise, and it is the bespoke, personalized service which makes all the difference.
I absolutely love the Eastern Mediterranean. There are just so many beautiful places to visit, the food is amazing, the waters are crystal clear, and the climate is incredible for two thirds of the year. Countries such a Croatia, Montenegro, Greece and Cyprus have so much to offer and make for some of the most intriguing and rewarding charter itineraries with a little bit of something for everyone.
For me it’s got to be Lurssen. Their yachts are simply the ultimate in beauty and style.
The superyachts cruising the waters today are so varied and offer so much personalisation that charter guests and prospective buyers can really choose exactly what suits their interests and tastes. I love to be active, so for me, a superyacht would have to have an amazing collection of toys on board. From water toys to submersibles, the industry is always offering new and exciting things to try. The new breed of explorer yachts allows adventurers the option to cruise into far-flung waters, try daredevil activities such as heli-skiing on virgin slopes, or scuba diving on thriving reefs. Those really get my heart pumping.
I would always advise taking your time and enjoying the experience. Buying a yacht is not a quick process, and it should be the happiest time of your life knowing you’re about to own one of life’s greatest luxuries. So ask questions, don’t rush into decisions and be patient. A good broker should be able to take all the stress out of the purchase for you, leaving you to enjoy it.
