The Mediterranean Yacht Show returned in 2023 for its 8th edition, where it certainly made an impact with the fleet they had on display. Taking place in the stunning port of Nafplion in Greece, the event showcased 92 luxury crewed charter yachts which brought together over 600 brokers in the industry, attending between the 29th April and 3rd May. The show gave luxury yacht charter companies the opportunity to show off their fleet, which included everything from motor yachts and sailing yachts, to luxury catamarans and superyachts. Although struck with a few April showers, that didn’t stop us from having a successful MEDYS.

The Perfect Location in The Med

The show is held in the picturesque town and port of Nafplion, captivating attendees with its undeniable natural beauty. Overlooking the show is the crown jewel of Nafplion, the imposing Palamidi Fortress where you can expect to experience breath taking panoramic views of the Argolic Gulf. The TJB Super Yachts team touchdown in Greece, ready to see what the Mediterranean had in store for them, and it’s safe to say they were impressed.

One superyacht in particular stood out to Angus Cook, Charter Broker, which was the 53m Amels built SEAHORSE. “At every yacht show there is always one yacht which really stands out for me, and I always look for those yachts that will take you by surprise. SEAHORSE was built in 1999 and had a refit in 2019. You would not have guessed that that was her age, she looks absolutely phenomenal and has undergone one of the best refits I have ever seen. She is full of character, has a lovely crew, is a family orientated yacht and the owner’s daughters are behind the artwork on board. You feel very welcome from the moment you step foot on board.”

Angus also had the incredible opportunity to enjoy a 7-course tasting menu for lunch onboard the impeccable 60m O’EVA which has recently had a refit this year. “I had a 7-course lunch onboard O’EVA, all tasters of what clients will get, and it tasted superb. The dishes were fun and inventive, and the presentation was great,” says Angus.

THE YACHT DOMINATING THE GREEK FLEET

For Josh Francis, Sales and Charter Broker Manager, the 85M Golden Yacht O’PTASIA dominated this year’s show, deeming it “the jewel of the Greek fleet. An incredibly capable and experienced captain, hand-picked crew, and 3 chefs including a full-time pastry chef is a winning combination. I had a 10-course dinner onboard and it was unreal!

Available this summer for a Mediterranean yacht charter, she offers up the opportunity to welcome up to 12 guests in 10 cabins and is fully equipped with a helipad, elevator, beach club, gym and spa. “She has really well-thought-out spaces, amazing artwork, an incredible beach club, huge pool and jacuzzi, plus 3 tenders and loads of toys,” says Josh.

LIFE ONBOARD O’PTASIA

Once MEDYS had closed its doors on their 8th show, O’PTASIA made her way back to Athens from Nafplion, and our CEO Tim Johnson and one of our esteemed Sales and Charter Brokers Charlie Bush were delighted to be invited onboard for a day trip. “I was absolutely thrilled to have been invited onboard O’PTASIA for an epic day cruising through the Saronic from Nafplion back to Athens. We made a pit stop in Hydra, widely considered the most gorgeous of the Greek Islands.” Tim shares his fantastic experience continuing to say, “From an incredible lunch by the 3 chefs onboard, to impeccable crew service, and making the most of the enormous beach club and swim platform, O’PTASIA is set to dominate the Greek fleet this summer.”
